Description
WE HAVE BEEN SELLING ON LINE SINCE 1998 WITH OVER 7,500 POSTIVE FEEDBACKS   1977  COOK ISLANDS $100 PROOF GOLD COIN SPECIAL SEALED CERTIFIED FIRST DAY OF MINTING CACHET  BY THE FRANKLIN MINT   1977 FIRST DAY OF ISSUE COVER - ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR GOLD COIN OF THE  COOK ISLANDS 8.16 GRAMS---900/1000 FINE GOLD The 1977 Cook Islands First Day of Issue Cover commemorates the 25th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II?an event of special significance to the Cook Islands. The people of these islands have always loved and revered Queen Elizabeth II, as they so enthusiastically demonstrated when she visited the Cook Islands in 1974. The One Hundred Dollar Proof Coin contained in the sealed First Day of Issue Cover was designed by the internationally renowned artist and sculptor, James Berry, O.B.E. The reverse of the Queen Elizabeth II coin contains Her Majesty's Royal Cipher, with the legend 1952-1977 25 YEARS above the Cipher and JUBILEE below it. The obverse bears the classic Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Combined with the coin is a new one-dollar Cook Islands stamp also issued to honor the Queen on her anniversary. The stamp features the formal state portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh created after the coronation at Westminster Abbey. The cover was postmarked in Raratonga, the capital of the Cook Islands and is dated February 7, 1977?the First Day of Issue for both the coin and the stamp. The Cook Islands are located in the Southwest Pacific about 1,600 miles northeast of New Zealand. They were explored between 1773 and 1777 by the English Captain James Cook. In 1965 the Cook Islands became a self-governing member of the British Commonwealth.   WANT TO SEE MORE???
