Reddish/purple case with blue silk lined lid, blue velvet bottom. Impressed gold lettering reading "Wells Fargo & Company, March 18th, 1852. March 18th, 1902". Silver medal measures 1.555" in diameter. Features stage coach and bandit in trees on top and man on horseback shooting at an indian with bow and arrow. Reads "Wells Fargo & Company on ribbon in center. Reverse features steamship, factory, train and cars, quill pens and seal, crossed keys, and hand grasping lightning bolts or electricity. Reads "1852 March 18th 1902" on ribbon in center and "Express and Banking below that. Wonderful detail to strike. Medal is in excellent condition showing no wear and an even dark patina to the silver. Case shows some age and light scuffing. Outer part of paper hinge on case is split, but inner cloth hinge still supports the lid. I understand that these were presented in 1902,  to all the Wells Fargo employees that had been with the company at least 1 year, to commemorate the 50yr. Anniversary of the company. A beautiful medal, and hard to find in it's original case! Note: One of these sold in a coin auction two years ago for over $600.00, without a box! Buyer to pay shipping costs.
