It is 22 karat gold proof quality with a diameter of 27 mm and weighs 16.965 grams of which 15.551 grams (1/2 Troy oz) are fine gold. Contains 91.66% fine gold and 8.34% fine silver. The obverse shows Queen Elizabeth II and reads "100 dollars" and Elizabeth II". The reverse has an open book bearing the Coat of Arms of Canada on the left and a maple leaf on the right.
